Still bothered by Avatar? YES!
February 11, 2010Toad 1 Comment »Now that the last person on earth has seen Avatar, it has passed Titanic as the highest grossing film of all time. I can’t help but to wonder why. Then I remember how much it actually costs to go see a movie and it makes it a little easier to understand. You have to see it in 3-D according to anybody who’s seen it. Furthermore you have an option to see it on a megahuge Imax screen. After the price of the first two up-sells, why wouldn’t you see it in IMax? At that point, the two extra dollars you spend is only increasing the total price by 5%!
But there still are a couple of things that bother me about it that I haven’t already touched upon in my previous post describing how bad the movie Avatar is.
1) The Toruk (May he live forever!)
After we hear this big boring speech about how the bond between you and your dragon pterodactyl is everlasting, the stupid bird gets ditched. I would be pissed if I was the original flying bird buddy. Now all of a sudden Jakes going for the other bird because it’s a bigger badass? Is this the setup for the sequel or something? The revenge of the first flying birdthing banshee from hell!
2) Jake Sully
I’ve already got a big blue monster friend named Sulley. I for one, do not need a second one. I will stick with James P. “Sulley” Sullivan thank you. Every time they said his name in the movie, I immediately though of Monsters Inc. Anybody else?
3) Oscars season
I will not be happy if avatar wins best picture. They picked 10 movies this year to nominate, and sure there are some fillers in there. The dialog alone in this movie should disqualify it.
