DVD Player – Less Expensive than the Regal

Yep that’s right… you can have a lifetime of fun with your own movie playback device for less than date night at the Regal will run you. Yep that’s right you can pick up a brand new Coby DVD player for around twenty-five bucks!
As we have discussed in previous articles, you can run down to your local DVD-mart and pick up a movie for a buck over and over again after your initial $25 dollar INVESTMENT. Now that’s kind of return you should look for in the market!
Sure the DVD movie at home might be a little creepy for your first date, but times are tough, she’ll understand and appreciate your responsibility and frugality. On top of that, you can chose from all the classics when you watch a movie at home, you don’t have to risk seeing the latest “Oscar-winning” flop!

I cannot argue with the cheap factor of watching a movie on DVD at home. However, most electronic savy guys “need” the latest technology. Enter the flat screen HD TV and Oh yea a Blu Ray player. Want to really impress that date? Then you are going to need surround sound too. The average 42″ 1080p HD TV will run you around $750-$1000. A good quality Blu Ray about $150-$250. Surround sound system anywhere from $300-$1000 depending on how many speakers and if you are getting a DVD/Stereo receiver with it. Your initial investment will surely lighten your checkbook a bit. However with a good quality brand name purchase you will have years of high quality viewing entertainment. Couple that with the fact that you will be saving money on those trips to the Regal, and hey you could even cook her dinner instead of going out which will impress and save money too! So all in all watching movies at home will in the long run be cheaper than a trip to the Regal. Date night will never be the same again……..

I have to agree with you on that one, you’re certainly looking at a much larger initial investment than $30 bucks! And yes, you’re probably better off investing in quality pieces of equipment for the long run, though perhaps the quality versus disposable product argument is for another post. But it still makes me wonder how long Regal can continue to gouge people!
