Mandatory Reading?
July 15, 2009schif No Comments »So while I was visiting the mens room at work today, I found that for some reason there was a copy of our countrys constitution in the stall. One to never turn down a little bathroom reading material I opened it up. But then I got to thinking about the fact that I know about the document, and many of the entries held inside it, but had never actually read it.
A lot is made about differing views on our constitution. Some believe that it cannot change, it is set in stone and the rules and laws set down by our countries founders should stand as they did then. I believe that is an organic document, can and should be changed, and will never be completely up to date with the current times. Both views have their flaws, but also have their pluses.
I do now intend to read it, and I believe that every citizen should. It would give everyone a better understanding of the way our government works, and how our government and country got to the point in its evolution that it stands today.
