A liberal view of things
August 25, 2009schif 1 Comment »I have a hypothesis when it comes to liberals and conservatives (as far as the american political realm defines them) and their views of the world. It isn’t very complicated, and has nothing to do with how they were raised, as I don’t believe most peoples views are founded during childhood but by their experiences during their teenage years and after.
My hypothesis is this: Liberals in America have more faith in humanity. From my experience and interactions with people from all groups, I have noticed that people who define themselves as liberals believe in the good nature of people. Thus Conservatives do not believe that most people are good (one example being that conservatives believe all people on public assistance are minorities leeching on the system, while liberals do see the value in giving back to those who are underprivleged in the hope that they are attempting to better themselves).
Every day people cross my path who I know are leeching off the system so to speak, and don’t deserve the assistance they receive no matter the source. But I know that even if only 1 out of 100 takes what has been handed to them and makes their life a better one, and in turn makes their families life a better one by striving for a better education and job.
I think we all need to have more faith in people, don’t look at their color, or where you think they came from when you make a decision about what kind of person someone is. Get to know them, because you may just have a change in the way you view a lot of things.

Not changing yet, keep dreaming!
Not sure if its a lack of faith in humanity, or a faith in myself… the person who knows the most about how to spend my money is me… good or bad decisions, I’d like to make them.
